It all started on Tues evening when I just finished taking a couple of my Young Women home from mutual and had just arrived at home myself, that I could smell someone/something
BBQing, not thinking much of it I turned to go into the house. Derrick however, noticed the look on my face as I sniffed the area and started looking around and noticed a "glow" under his car and yelled "the cars on fire". It took a minute for me to register what he was saying, but luckily enough he sprung into action and put it out with the hose before to much damage was done. He came to the conclusion that when him and Logan where being mechanics a couple of weeks ago they forgot to tighten one of the bolts on the alternator, which caused a spark and started the alternator cap on fire. Even with his assurance that the fire wouldn't start up again I didn't want it parked in the garage, just in case. So he parked toward the end of the driveway, where it sat the rest of the week, until he was able to get the part and find the time to fix it. In the mean time he was taking my car to work, which kind of made it a little hard for me since it was my week to carpool kids to kindergarten (luckily I have good friends to pick up my slack). Anyways, Friday came and I was in need of the car that day so the neighbor took Derrick to work, where I would later pick him up. But that morning as I was getting the kids in the car I looked down the driveway making a special mental note of Derricks car still sitting there. I'm not sure where my mind wondered of too just after that "note to self", but where ever it went it wasn't about the car. Oops! That's right, I backed into his car. All I could say is "oh crap, oh crap," and my kids (ya gotta love 'em) laughed, laughed, laughed, and Justin said "yep mom, that's what I'm feeling right now," as Logan says "uh oh, mom's gonna be TOAST"(over and over). Thanks kids, your such a big help! I took this picture with my phone(note: the scratches on the bottom where already there, HIS FAULT, not mine) and sent it to Derrick with a
txt that said "Oops! I am so, so, so sorry!" Luckily for me he was in a meeting with a few co-workers so when he called all I got was "it's okay", so I went about my busy day. Well it was time to go get Derrick from work so I packed a few goodies (daddy's Swedish fish) in the car to get ready for our 30 min drive to daddy's work. We get to his work and the first thing Logan said to Derrick was, "Daddy,
we's eating
you's bish". "Logan, you weren't suppose to tell him," I said. "Mommy hit
you's car, she's gonna be TOAST." "THANKS LOGAN!" That kid, all tell you what, don't tell him anything unless your okay with everyone knowing it! He sure makes me laugh.....
But don't worry the brave intrepid is now up and running again. The alternator has been replaced and the headlight just needed a little packaging tape to hold it together until we can find one at a junk yard or something. I REALLY don't want to spend $200 on 1 stupid headlight. Rip off!
