Thanks Kyle and Mel for helping us!

2009 Hendrickson's Annual TuRkEy ShOoT

Every year for Thanksgiving Derrick's family gets together for our Annualy Turkey Shoot. Each year are family is just alittle bit bigger as well. Needless to say we have ALOT of rules to try to keep everyone safe. With 11 Adults, 11 kids, 4 shotguns and 2 beebee guns plus the few extras, we definetly needed to all be cautious.

We always start off with everyone getting 10 warm up shots.
Derrick and I both started off GREAT getting 10/10, but when it came down to the actual contest, Derrick tied 10/10 again, but didn't hold up under pressure when the tiebreaker came around coming in for 2nd place at 4/5.

I must have also chocked under the same pressure because even though I did come in with 1st place, it was only with 8/10. I did receive a pocket knife as my award and proudly posed with it for the camera. I'm such a nerd!
The boys really enjoyed taking turns helping grandpa shoot the clay pigeons. That is when it wasn't there own turn to shoot the beebee guns.
After the actually contest the dads play some game where they get in a line and the one in front gets the 1st shot, but if he misses then it's free game and if someone else hits it, he goes to the back of the line. We have alot of fun doing this as a family and enjoy making these memories together.

My favorite part this year was that Allie slept in the car the ENTIRE time we were there so I didn't have to worry one little bit about her. What a relief. I've always loved nap time!
After we went back and enjoyed our wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner as a family. We got to work on our Annual Hendrickson Service Project. For the past 5 years we've been taking new toys or making blankets to Primary Children's Medical Center for donations, but each year the parent do all the work and then just explain to the kids what and why we are doing it. This year we decided to do something different so they could experience more hands on. We bought enough food to make 50 sack lunches to donate to the community relief program for the homeless. So we organized all the food on a table and had an assembly line putting one of everything into each bag. Everyone from youngest to oldest helped.

The tallest snowman

We've ever made!
to bad it tipped over just hours later.
Oh, the tears that were shed. The sobbing,
the sobbing, sobbing, sobbing.
Poor, poor snowman!

HaPpY 4tH BiRtHdAy LoGaN!

Or should I say BEN 10!That was the theme for this little guys 4th birthday
"Ben 10 Alien Force".
This was also the first time for him to have a friend birthday party. So he was SUPER excited.

They first had a race to see who could drink Alien slim (Green Jello) the fastest.
Then they colored their spaceships (paper plates) so we could take them out on the driveway for a test run.
Then we opened presents and got ready for some cake and ice cream. He wanted an Omnitrix cake which is the watch that Ben 10 wears that turns him in different aliens so he can fight bad aliens. The figurine is, Swampfire, one of the many different aliens he turns into. My mom helped me, or should I say, my mom made this jacket for him at my request. It looks like the one Ben 10 is ALWAY wearing. He was SO excited, but it wasn't complete until he opened his very own omnitrix after dad got home from work. Justin can hardly wait until his birthday now, he is SO jealous of all the cool things Logan got. Luck for him, he's got such a nice little brother that shares everything he has with him, just so he'll play with him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!
Or should I say BEN 10 !

Halloween 2009

Justin is always begging to do a craft or some project, so on Sunday afternoon when we came home from church we decided to make "Frankie," after having seen in on my cousins blog a couple of days prior. Thanks Tina for the idea! :)

Not only does Justin beg to do "projects", but he had also been begging since last Halloween to have a Halloween party. I think it was even just after Valentines Day that he started to make some invitations for it. Even though we didn't end up using the invitations he made 7-8 months ago, we did make some new ones, but that was just the beginning of the things still left to do
Justin wanted this party to be perfect. Each day after school he went over his "to-do list", well it was his "to-do" list for me to do, anyways. Anyways, he would just keep adding and adding things we needed to get and do. Our house needed to be haunted looking, bars on the windows, headstones out front, spiders w/webs, fake rats, grandmas skeleton w/the coffin, mist, strobe lights, THE WORKS! He was not going to be shamed with this party.... We we didn't get around to all of that, but we did decorate the basement living room to host this party in . Thankfully I have GREAT friend who came to help. We had games followed with candied apples, eye-ball cake and witches brew. There's NO WAY I could have wrangled 22 kids all by myself and probably not even with just Derricks help, so I am very grateful they jumped in to help.
We even made 2 nights of all this. We decided to leave it up and invited the Colovich Clan over the following evening for a spaghetti dinner.

Actually did I say 2 nights? It ended up being 4 nights of Halloween around our place. The Halloween party on Wed night. The Colovich party on Thur. nights. The ward Trunk-or-treat on Friday night (where Allie won the cutest costume award. Thanks Chambrae for letting us borrow it.) and then the REAL Halloween on sat night. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! I sure am glad that week is over.
