Oquirrah Temple Open House

After taking the boys to the Draper Temple Openhouse, they kept asking when they would get to into the temple again. I kept telling them that other Temples were built we could try to go inside them just like we did that one, but otherwise it would be when they turned 12.

It was the last week of the Oquirrah Temple's Open House, but there was no time for us to attend this event so I didn't even mention it to them. But I was talking to Kristen on the phone yesterday about her going and taking her girls and some of there nonmember friends and they overheard me talking about it. In the meantime Logan was empting my purse and found a $1 and asked if that was enough for him to get into the temple so he could go with Kristen. I just laughed and told him the temple was free and he didn't need to pay anything and a whole song and dance erupted. It was so funny. He made up the tune, but the lyrics when something like this: Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, the temples free... I don't have to pay cause its free free free. Over and over. When I finally got off the phone he said. "The temples free huh mom, so we get to go with Kristen, huh"? I decided at that moment it was more important to take them to the temple then anything else. Needless to say, even though dad couldn't come with us, we went and they loved it just as much as they did just months prior at the Draper Temple.

Cascade Springs

After we left camping we decided to stop and Hike the springs. Derrick and I hadn't been here since we've had kids and thought it would be fun for them to see the beautiful scenery. These are just a few of the pictures we took with out phone because we forgot our camera at home.

Camping, Camping and More Camping

We went camping with Adam and Amanda and their 4 kids over the 24th of July weekend.
We ended up going above Midway, past Cascade Springs. It was so pretty up there.
You know it wouldn't be camping without our Indiana Jones attire.Allie LOVES smarsh-smellows... The kids really enjoyed the bungee rope Adam tied from the tree.
The kids called it the "Kid Sling Shot".

Cora didn't love it so much when her hair got twisted up in the rope and a pretty good sized chunk was riped out. Ouch! She was actually more distrait about the missing hair then the pain of it all.

There was a little stream that ran past our camp and the kids found GREAT JOY in soaking themselves over and over and over, even when we warned them we had no more dry clothes for them.
Thanks Leach family for planning this with us. It was a lot of fun. We love spending time with you and reminiscing about the good times!

Today's project is.....

STEPPING STONES!
Actually the project was to grout the tile my mom laid for me in my new downstairs bathroom, but this was the left over grout that I didn't know what to do with. Thanks mom for the idea, the kids LOVED it! They will look super cute in out garden.

Young Samuel of the Old Testament

Last night Justin woke up in the night calling for me to come into his room. Sleepwalking, I carried myself into to see what he needed. When I got in there he said "mom, I keep hearing someone whisper my name in my ear." I told him to try to go back to sleep and I turned on his primary CD to help. As I returned back to bed I couldn't help up think about the story of Samuel in the Old Testament. So tonight after we were finished with scripture study and family prayer I started taking to him about what had happened last night. I pulled out the Old Testament and read him the story of Young Samuel. After I was done reading it he said, "mom, I think it was Heavenly Father and Jesus whispering my name." I said, "well Justin, if you feel like that's who it was then next time you need to just start saying pray and tell them you are listening and ask them what need to do." "Well um, um, I don't really want to be alone if that happens". "Justin, if it Heavenly Father or Jesus or any of his angels ever talking to you, you won't ever be afraid, because you will know and feel how much they love you." "Oh, okay."
I love how teachable kids are. When I am so unsure of myself, they trust every word I say. I hope they always strive to keep the spirit with them and learn to recognize how it speaks to them.

BOYZ....

Just because I'm a mom of boys does that mean I have to deal with jars of grasshoppers, rolli-pollies, spiders, etc? This is there latest collection. YUMMY! I was over ruled when I said they had to stay out side and it made my skin crawl every time Justin would walk past them and give them a little shack for good luck. He liked listening to them hit the glass as they would jump around. NASTY!
When I woke up today I went into the bathroom and there was a HUGE grasshopper in the middle of my floor staring at me. I scram and shut the door for Derrick to take care of before he left for work. Of course he forgot so I waited util Justin was awake and put him to the task, which he LOVED! Not only did he love catching it, but he thinks it's pretty funny to chase me around with his collections.... Yuck, my skin is crawling just thinking about it....

Lake Powell

What do you need to have fun in Lake Powell? A knee board, and a dare devil to ride it....A "Roadrunner" to pull the Dare Devil's ...
(It is actually me getting ready to ride it in this picture. It had been awhile, it wore me right out)
Derrick bought 2 wave runners the week before we left for Powell. It was also the week before we found out we were going to have an addition to our family.... Had we known this before hand I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have gotten them, so it's a good thing he got them when he did...
You also need rocks to jump off of...
Along with a daddy to jump along side of...
An uncle to pave to show you how it's done...
Someone to do your hair...
Somewhere to take a nap...
Allie LOVED her play pen. She had NEVER wanted to sit in it before, but thankfully if she wasn't on the roadrunner, she wanted in there. It made it a lot easier for me to keep track of her. I had MANY nightmares before we left about something happening to one of the kids.
It truly was an answer to my prayers.
Don't forget the showoff...
I mean showoff (s).... But most of all, what would Powell be with out shovels, buckets and SAND!
